D'Or

D'Or which means "Of Gold" in French, is the latest foray into the "precious-metal" genre. Located in the basement of the recently opened Amalia Restaurant, inside New York City's Dream Hotel. D'or boasts a cavernous space aimed at attracting the younger and hipper set to this trendy location with great drinks and a quaint atmosphere amongst the Midtown grind. Features include a "floating" staircase entrance, Rococo-esque artwork, crystal chandeliers, and modern design. Down a staircase of illuminated stained glass is what looks like a hyper-glamorized wine cellar: groin-vaulted ceilings with crystal chandeliers, glazed brick walls with gilded mirrors.
